Is Siding Installed Top Down
Remove wall plates and outlet covers.
Is siding installed top down. It protects the sheathing from rain snow and pests. Slide the zip tool under the butt edge of the siding hook the locking edge and pull down. Below the top of the foundation but the lower the vinyl siding is installed the better. The siding can be installed both vertical or horizontal.
Most suppliers sell two sizes of starter 2 1 2 in. A furring strip should be installed to prevent panel detachment. The bottom of the starter strip the part the bottom panel hooks on to should be at least 1 in. To determine how much you will need to cut from the top of the panel measure the distance between the top of the under sill trim and the lock on the next panel down then subtract 1 4 inch 0 6 cm.
I would remove the siding down to the barrier and then approach the brick facade installation as it would normally be done the right way depending on the material being used and how the manufacturer specifies. Spend the extra few bucks on the wider stuff and start your siding a bit lower. Before you install your shiplap boards open your boxes and let the flooring adjust to the room temperature and moisture for at least 48 hours. That bad boy needs to be intact.
When you reach the top row of siding you will need to measure and cut it to fit. If panel is uncut or cut down in the v shaped groove of a piece of vertical siding simply insert it into a 3 8 9 5mm j channel locking the other side on to the previously applied panel. Aluminum siding is installed in an interlocking pattern where the upper edge of each piece has a flange for nails which also has a lip like a backward upside down j that serves as the locking. Lift the unlocked siding to expose the nailing hem of the siding piece below.
Draw a line on the wall along the top of each siding course before you pull the nails. If horizontal the tongue is usually on the top to avoid water retention amp. The first step in your shiplap accent wall is to remove everything from the wall including any nails use a putty knife to gently pry and remove baseboards crown moulding and trim. Then slide the tool horizontally along the lock to release it.
Install the top row of siding.
