Kenmore Gas Dryer Igniter Glows But No Heat
Kenmore series 80 dryer.
Kenmore gas dryer igniter glows but no heat. To determine if one or more of the gas valve solenoids has failed check the igniter. I have a gas dryer that runs but does not heat. When all parts of the dryer are operational the ignitor will heat and begin to glow producing enough heat to ignite the gas once. The gas valve solenoids open the gas valve ports to allow gas to flow into the burner assembly.
As you have described this problem it is most likely the igniter the thing that glows. I noticed that the igniter does not glow and checked the surrounding wires to ensure nothing came loose not sure what else i can do. The dryer worked for one load and again it will not heat. The hot surface igniter is used in modern gas oven burners to open the gas valve and to ignite the gas.
I have a kenmore gas dryer model 110 73932101 which had no heat. That is what provides the resistance to provide the current for the coils to open in your gas valve. If a gas valve solenoid fails the dryer won t heat. When they break down they will still glow but the heat lowers their resistance and therefore the current.
This video shows a few easy tests you can run to diagnose and fix the problem. This sequence normally takes about a minute. If your gas dryer won t heat several things could be keeping it from operating normally. If the ignitor glows but no gas flows the gas valve solenoids may be bad.
If the ignitor doesn t glow on the other hand it may be bad or a fuse may be blown. The dryer could have a broken flame sensor gas valve coils high limit thermostat operating thermostat thermal cut off fuse thermal fuse igniter or timer. Kenmore elite he3 110 97892601 does not heat. As the igniter draws electric current it will heat to a high temperature and glow as well as cause the bi metal in the oven safety valve to warp and open the valve releasing the gas to be ignited.
I replaced the glow plate igniter which fell apart after i removed it so i m confident it had cracked i still had no heat so i. If the igniter glows and goes out but does not ignite the gas the gas valve solenoid is defective.
