Inverted Hip Roof
The reverse hybrid of a hipped and a gable roof.
Inverted hip roof. The inward slope of all four sides is what makes it more sturdy and durable. A hip roof has slopes on all four sides. Here we consider two types of hipped roofs see picture. Inverted roofs have their waterproofing layer beneath the insulation instead of above it as in other forms of roofing.
For that reason we can use the same common rafters all the way around it. 1 pyramid hip roof roof base is a square roof sides are identical isosceles triangles 2 hip roof roof base is a rectangle two sides are identical isosceles triangles and two sides are identical trapeziums. Hip roofs are more stable than gable roofs. A hybrid of a gable and a hipped roof.
In this issue the investigations team explains how inverted roofs work outlines their benefits warns of a possible cause of problems and describes an unusual investigation. The sides are all equal length and come together at the top to form a ridge. See above dutch gable gablet. It is basically a gable roof with half of the hipped roof above stuck on each end.
To calculate the length of a ridge in a hipped roof you simply subtract the width away from the length. See above cross hipped. We ll assume the new length of the roof below is 3 4 metres. The result of joining two or more hip roof sections together forming a t or l shape for the simplest forms or any number of more complex shapes.
